What happens when a photographer gets one day access to the most phenomenal building in town? BOUDOIR ALL DAY! We gathered up a few models, hair and makeup artists and photographers, brought beds, outfits, a beautiful cake and flowers to the venue and made a day of it. It could honestly not have gone any better. It was an absolute dream and I'm dying to go back already. Check it out below!

I've known Jodie since college and have loved her so so much through the years. She's been with me through graduations, job changes, very first Slumber Parties events, very first boudoir sessions, breakups, weddings, a whole array of important events. If you have ever spoken to her, then you know that she is so full of passion. Passion for her job, passion for her husband, for their pups, for her friends. She has wanted to be a mother for a long time and the struggle for her is beyond anything that I can imagine.
She has been SO STRONG in being able to share her journey and shed light on the fact that there are so many women struggling silently with this. One in eight women struggle with this and nobody's really talking about it. I'm so glad she is willing to share her story with us. There's so much emotion in this blog. It has sadness, disappointment, grief, love and most importantly hope. Also, a special thanks to Glam by Jeet for the amazing hair and makeup artistry. Here we go:
May 17, 2015 I married my best friend. We were in our mid twenties, and just decided to “let things happen” and stopped using any type of birth control on our honeymoon. 6 months passed, no pregnancy, which isn’t unusual. A year passed, still nothing. Then the doctor visits began, it was three years before we finally received a diagnosis. 1095 days of waiting for an answer.
It hit me like a ton of bricks when I realized the issue was me, and while my condition is rare (which is why a diagnosis took so long) it made our chances of conceiving naturally less than 1%. Our only option now for a family is In Vitro Fertilization. And even with that, each cycle is a 37% chance of a live birth.
Not only that, but the process is also taxing, mentally, physically, and financially. IVF isn’t just growing an embryo in a Petri dish, it’s waiting until the timing is perfect for your body, it’s multiple daily injections, suppositories (and not for your butt), pills, patches, and bloodwork. More waiting. Waiting to see if you had any viable eggs, waiting to see how many of those viable eggs fertilize, waiting to see if any make it to the blastocyst stage. And then, if you’re lucky enough to have a viable embryo, more shots, and implanting it. Then more waiting, two weeks in fact, to know if the implantation worked. And if it doesn’t? Well, scroll back up to the top & repeat.
So next time you go to ask someone in casual conversation when they are starting a family, don’t. Because if you ask me, I won’t hold back. Waiting on our miracle, 1168 days & counting.
Growing up I never really hated my body. I was happy and athletic. It wasn't until I turned 23 and became diagnosed with a chronic disease that I started to hate my body. When I first became sick I was miserable I was below 100 lbs, I couldn't even look at myself while naked let alone let my husband see me!
My flare passed and I started to gain weight back but still never made it back to my healthy weight. I still didn't feel comfortable in my skin, for years I was this way. Then yet again my body fell under an awful flare, I had to have surgery and have an ostomy bag attached to my body to help me heal. Talk about an all time self-confidence low!! It took my months to even think about changing shirts in front of my husband. Intimacy was out the window for me!!
Then Katie and I had a long and beautiful talk about how I could prove myself wrong with boudoir photos. So I made the decision to go see her. Katie was the first to really see my bag outside of family and Doctors, and boy was I nervous!! Gosh I think I shook the whole time she helped me with outfits and the first set of shots she took. Then with Katie's amazing guidance and her ability to literally see the beauty in every woman, I became more confident throughout our first shoot.
When the glambassador positions came up and I just had to apply! By this time I no longer had my ostomy bag and had gained my weight back, I was finally nearing my healthy weight. Honestly, I was still struggling because of my scars from surgery and also being rounder than I have been in years!! But yet again Katie and her team showed me how beautiful I can be throughout any stage of my body and disease.
My husband and I are so in love with the way these boudoir sessions have changed my confidence! I have never felt more sexy or beautiful in my entire life!! I couldn't Thank Katie, her glam team, and the boudoir community enough, for the beauty and love they create and radiate!!
I have always wanted to do a Boudoir session but lacked the confidence to book an appointment. I kept saying to myself, "lose 20 pounds, or wait until you get a tan!!" I wanted to look like what Hollywood shows us how we should look. A certain standard.
I have never fit into that Hollywood standard. I have always had an issue with what I see in the mirror, with no clothes on or in sexy lingerie. I avoid mirrors like it's the plague. I have let hurtful comments from men replay in my head over and over until I have literally believed them. The strange thing is, I have never heard women tear me down but rather the men have and for most of my life.
One day, a friend of mine invited me to Katie's Boudoir private group page and Katie offered up an application if you will to become one of her Glambassadors. I kept looking at it and reading it. Wanting to apply and then backed off and went to apply again and thought to myself, "why not, what have a got to lose?" I never thought I would have been been chosen. But that day has played a significant change in me. A new me. No more rude, derogatory comments will bother me, no more abusive words will tear me down. NO MORE!!!! So I accepted the position as Glambassador and chose to walk down the path to a new me and to help create a new path for all women and of all sizes. I hope to be a part of this movement and stop the problem we have as women. We should be uplifting our sisters, friends, co-workers and such. Instead of tearing down these beautiful creatures we are all meant to be. Doing this Boudoir session will empower you as a woman...I promise!!!
My biggest fear before my photo shoot was: will the cellulite show up, will my big legs and arms look bigger in the pictures, will my lower pooch be a prominent element in the pictures from having surgeries and kids. Basically, will all the flaws that I see look gross in the pictures??? The answer is NO. Katie is such a professional and has a keen eye and how to use the lighting and angle of the camera to show off your assets!!! My confidence in myself was about a 4 out of 10. After the photo shoot, my confidence level was a 20. I was on a high all night long. Then, Katie sent me about 4 images and I was all on fire!!! I couldn't believe that was ME in those photos. ME!!!!! I couldn't stop looking at them and days later, I am in complete AWE!!!! It literally made me proud and tears flowed down my cheeks. All these years I have been seeing myself all wrong.
I was absolutely nervous before the shoot. I'm such a planner and I really didn't know what to expect. But once I arrived and met the glam team, my nerves disappeared quickly!!! Her team is completely amazing and the transformation is outstanding!! After I looked in the mirror and saw my makeup and my hair; it lit a fire in me. I was going to perform, with Katie's guidance and make her proud as a Glambassador and to make myself proud!!!
I would highly recommend Katie and her team. If you have been holding back for any reason, let it all go and do this for yourself. Empower yourself!! It's in you and Katie will guide you the whole way!!!
My idea of how I see beauty standards is that while women need to have a certain slim look, if you aren't skinny and toned, you are fat. If you are plus sized, you are fat. But then people want to say that you should love yourself no matter your size or shape. While the latter is true, there is so much more to that.
While we should be happy and confident with our bodies, we also need to remember that it's not just a physical issue, it's a mental one too. A lot of women like me have low self esteem for different reasons or from certain things that have happened to us. For me, while I do need to get healthier and lose weight per my doctor, it's mostly about my mentality of the whole idea because of physical and emotional scars, of extra stomach fat, of not feeling pretty or skinny or sexy no matter what I wear, because of how I see myself versus other women.
In one of my past relationships, I was cheated on multiple times and I was never complimented. Ever. He was abusive in all forms and I felt like I was nothing. I was told I was worthless and useless. I never thought I was pretty enough or skinny enough even though I was a lot skinnier then than I am now. I felt like I was the ugliest female that walked the earth. How could someone ever love me like this? I was so broken. So lost. In need of love and affection. In need of affirming that I am beautiful or sexy or at least worth something.
Whether she realizes it or not, Katie is helping me through this difficult journey of self love, confidence in my own body, changing how I view myself in the bedroom, and knowing my self worth. While I am in a better relationship now, I still have a lot of healing to do and learning how to have confidence. Katie is so encouraging throughout these sessions that you can't help but to feel her excitement and confidence in this whole idea. She radiates happiness and passion that automatically flows right into you. She makes you feel so attractive and sexy. Because of that, you automatically feel confident and ready to strike those poses and embrace your womanhood! Oh the difference even just a little encouragement can make.
If you are nervous about trying a boudoir photoshoot, you needn't be. Katie is so easy to talk to and she is the sweetest. Just talk to her first and she will help calm you down while her artist does your hair and makeup. After you look at yourself in the mirror when the artist is done, you will automatically feel elated and stunned. Your confidence goes up and it helps you become excited for your shoot! When you get into your lingerie ... or not ;) ... you will feel like you are a Hollywood starlet! Katie walks you through everything and suggests different poses for you to be able to do. The more she takes pictures, the easier it is to be calm and enjoy the experience of embracing your womanhood. You can flaunt your curves and sexiness while also being able to look elegant and classy. When she shows you your pictures after she has edited them, it will blow you away! And I will just put this out there .. there may be tears at this point. No matter how you view yourself, these photos will remind you that you ARE beautiful. You ARE sexy. You ARE worth it. But most importantly, that you are a woman through and through. The journey to confidence and self love may still be longer than you expect, but this is such a great start to changing the way you see yourself. You will not be disappointed! ♡ I promise you that.
I heard about Katie's boudoir work through a friend of mine. She said she did a session, and was absolutely glowing with confidence when she showed me her photos. My friend told me I should do a session, and I thought, "I don't think so" and gave a nervous giggle. Katie's work was amazing, but I wasn't the type to really leave it all out there.
Throughout middle and high school, I was teased, ridiculed, and harassed for my fast developing curves. It took a lot of years, a lot of God, and a lot of doting from my husband to feel the way I do about myself. Still, I wasn't sure I was able to do something so "not me". I'm a tomboy, musician, and for the most part, an introvert. But then...
...This same friend sent me a link to Katie's website, and what came up was that she was looking for "Glambassadors"; women who wanted to lift up other women. Women that had been through things with their bodies. Women that may also need a confidence boost. I thought, "Ya know what? I'm going to try to become a glambassador. If I, a size 16, can strip myself down to lingerie in front of a camera and learn to be comfortable, maybe I can help someone else love their body."
The email letting me know I was chosen to be a glambassador immediately sent a wave of excitement through me. I was going to get prettied up by professionals and, as my husband said, finally see myself the way he does. The butterflies and countdown began.
Fast forward to the day of the shoot, I arrive at Katie's studio, bag of next-to-nothings in hand. "I am curvy. I am porcelain. I am a queen" I thought to myself, almost trying to convince myself in my mother's voice. And as soon as I walked in, the air felt calm. I knew this was a place where girls of every shape and size were put on a pedestal and encouraged and empowered.
Throughout hair, makeup, and the shoot, all I felt was acceptance. I felt like I was on top of the world. Every flaw I feared to bear seemed nonexistent. The constant encouragement and coaching made me feel like a goddess. When I finally saw my pictures, I was speechless. I'd never seen myself look so feminine and soft. I actually believed and was ready to admit that I looked pretty. My confidence has soared from this experience, and I'm so glad I did it.
Any woman that has ever had a problem with herself or has battled to come to a point of self love, needs to do a session with Katie Larrington. Her work goes far beyond photography. Her work is uplifting her fellow female, and that's exactly what she does.

The whole reason I do what I do is for women like this one. Sure, it can make a great gift for a significant other or a spouse, but do it for you. Do it for the empowerment, the confidence, the self worth. Because you deserve every single bit of it.
I have to admit, when I got the wild idea to actually let myself do a boudoir shoot, I kind of thought I may have gone crazy. I'm not a very confident person and I have not particularly been crazy about my body. I walked in to my session really scared and nervous. I didn't feel like an average girl had any business showing off or being proud of her body, proud enough to embrace it or show it off. Boudoir photography has been labeled as trashy, skanky and attention seeking. Females who do this must just be out for attention for the wrong reasons. But why not this? Why can't a woman try something new? Something to give much needed confidence? Why not embrace our body that God gave us?
I am a 30 year old mother of two, and yes I did this just for myself, just for me. I did this to empower myself and to allow myself to love me as I am. I am not a typically confident person, let alone a person who is okay with their body. I was absolutely physically and emotionally comfortable with Katie. From the moment I walked in, she complimented and encouraged me every step of the way and never stopped making me laugh. Having my hair and makeup done made me feel so beautiful! I felt safe, I felt confident and I felt okay with loving my body as it is. I walked out feeling like it was finally okay to love myself and my body - just the way God made me.
I was STUNNED when I saw my images for the first time. I could not even believe that I was the girl in the photos. I looked too confident, too relaxed. The session really helped boost my self confidence and self image. To be made to feel and look beautiful gives you a gift of confidence. Society can roll its eyes and shame this type of thing but maybe we should build ladies up to love themselves more...just like Katie has done for me.
Mrs. A. came to me in a unique way. Usually women seek me out to give gifts to their husbands or boyfriends or just to have it for themselves, but not Mrs. A! Her husband contacted me and wanted to secretly purchase a session to gift to his lovely wife. He knew she was interested in a session but wouldn't book one herself and wanted to give her the push that she needed to go ahead and take the plunge. The sweetest right!? Hear a little about her time below.
I have thought about doing a boudoir shoot for a long time but never been confident enough to make the plunge. After my husband surprised me with a session for my birthday/Valentine's Day, I knew I needed to go through with it. I was able to conquer my fear of self-image and bear more skin in pictures than ever before. I never felt judged or anything less than sexy during my shoot. I felt like I was able to show skin without being judged for my size. I'm extremely self conscious about my weight but didn't feel anything but beautiful during the shoot. I felt like I was confident enough to bear more skin than ever before! I was doing the best I could at being sexy which is not my norm!
I think Katie did an amazing job with lighting and editing them to make them look great. If others were to see my photos, they wouldn't believe that I'm self conscious! I would like to do more in the future! Thank you for what you do. Empowering women and couples to capture their passions is awesome.
I'll never get over the amazing stories of the women who walk into my studio. The things they've endured and the experiences they've had all shape who they are today and it's an honor to be able to encourage their badassery or hand them a little piece of confidence that they didn't even know they could have. This girl is just one of many awesome babes that I get to work with.
Walking into this session, I had absolutely no idea what to expect. I was excited. I was nervous. I was super body conscious; more so than I have ever been. I am not a small girl. I never have been. I had seen all these amazing boudoir shots of these beautiful, thin girls and never in a million years expected my photos to turn out that perfect.
I’ve had body issues my entire life. Even when my depression hit in high school and I became super thin, I still saw myself as this “fat girl.” I self harmed because of my body image. I never thought I’d be good enough, and that’s something that I still struggle with so much so today, even though I have accepted myself for who I am. Even though I do see myself as a beautifully flawed person.
I looked at myself in the mirror after having my hair and makeup done and don’t even recognize myself. I was gorgeous! I had never seen myself like this. I instantly felt a million times more confident and beautiful. I told myself, “I SO got this!”
The photo shoot in itself was so fun and comfortable. Katie was cracking jokes and telling me how amazing I looked, and how awesome I was doing. The pictures turned out so much better than I thought! I looked just as beautiful as those gorgeous thinner girls, and I just couldn’t believe it. I wanted to show those photos to the world; something I never thought I’d be comfortable doing.
If you’ve been wondering about a photo shoot with Katie- don’t hesitate. She is absolutely amazing. She made this rundown mom look hot! She’s 110% got you. She can and WILL make you look hot too!
If it weren't for Katie, her sense of humor, and outstanding professionalism, I'm not sure I would have gone through with it. I almost didn't do it. I cancelled once. I doubted myself. I doubted Katie. I thought it would be a waste of money. I convinced myself I would hate it. I thought my husband would laugh at it. I'm too old for this. I felt dumb for even contemplating it.....the list goes on. I honestly thought I was wasting my time and that I was going to hate every photo.
I was NOT physically or emotionally comfortable walking in the door. I really wasn't. I'm not exactly sure how Katie's "magic" works, but she had me laughing at myself in no time. It ended up being a lot of fun. I very quickly went from covering every inch of me to changing in front of her like we had known each other for years. Next time I would change my state of mind from the start.
I walked out LOVING my hair and still not so sure about my make-up. It was more than what I am used to. I was wrong again. Next time, I will let the professionals do their job and not over think it so much. I forgot that I can be beautiful! That is so easy to do when you are busy with this thing called LIFE.
My husband actually got a little emotional over his 8X8 black leather book. But honestly, this is the single best thing I have done for MYSELF in many years. If there is ONE take away from this whole experience, it is that I am still attractive. I have been married for 20 years and this single experience has reminded me that I am also the same person that I was 20 years ago. Thank you Katie. My husband REALLY thanks you!!! xoxo
I don't even know what I would do without my amazing clients. It's so fun to see them come out of their shell during our time together. I can't explain the feeling that I get every time I receive a sweet message saying that I helped someone with their body image, helped create a great gift, or just uplifted someones mood even if only for an hour.
"In today's society us ladies feel like we have to have a perfect body, even after having a child. It doesn't always "go back" not everyone is lucky to have everything go back to how it was, I know I wasn't one of those lucky ones, but I was lucky to have a healthy, handsome boy. And that's all that matters.
I've always had a little "pouch" even when I was at my lowest weight (in high school). I have always hated my body, there was something I always wanted to change... But after having this photoshoot with Katie has changed the way I think about myself. I look in the mirror and see a beautiful girl that needs to stop putting her self down all the time. I am still sexy even if a little extra weight still hasn't gone away.
When Katie sent me a couple photos the night after my photoshoot... Oh goodness, I couldn't stop smiling or looking at them. I so wanted to show my husband but it was for a gift, so I sent them to my mom and my cousin.
My favorite part was dressing up of course, putting on glittery sexy high heels and looking in the mirror, especially after putting on the body suit that look intimidating (I was doubting myself the whole time)... I put it on and I looked HOT!!
Ladies, if you have been wanting to do a boudoir photoshoot but want to get those "extra 5 pounds off" don't wait, just do it now!!! You will be amazed how beautiful you are.

Wanting to have a boudoir session but hesitant because you're single? "Who will see them besides me?" "Why bother when you have no one to give them to?" Girl, I totally understand.
We all have insecurities about ourselves, we are programmed that way these days. Every week I have ladies messaging me that they would like to have a session but need to lose five pounds, that they're insecure about their small boobs, love handles, I even had a client who thought her athletic muscles were too big and made her look less feminine. They may seem like valid reasons, but I promise you, there are tricks ladies. Tricks of lighting and posing that can emphasize your favorite things about yourself and minimize the things that we don't love.
I personally have my boudoir sessions taken every year or so whether I'm in a relationship or not. These sessions are purely for me, because I like to feel gorgeous. If I have someone to share them with, great, but not a necessity. Here are 5 reasons that I think you should take the plunge even if you're single.
1. The Confidence Boost: I know I say this a lot, but it's because I mean it. I see people literally transform in front of my eyes during a session. Even the most reserved, timid clients turn into gorgeous butterflies strutting their stuff, unafraid of their bodies and totally confident at the end of a session. Confidence is attractive, ladies. Have you ever been on a date with someone who was cute, successful but needed reassurance that everything was ok all the time? I can show you that you're way more gorgeous than you give yourself credit for.
2. Wake Up With A Sexy Attitude: One of my favorite things about having my boudoir pictures taken is hanging them up in my bedroom or master bathroom. Every single morning on my way from my bed to the bathroom mirror, I pass the sexiest image of myself printed 24x30 and I smile at how awesome I am. Having that first image in the morning being a positive one instead of the one I get when I reach the bathroom - all bed head and smudged mascara, zits and morning breath - is a game changer. Even if you're the only one who lives there, even if you have kids (pick one that's anonymous or less "sexy" but still beautiful), even if you think it's weird, I promise you it will change the tone of your mornings.
3. Imagine this: I'm seeing a huge trend of brides giving grooms albums on their wedding days which is super adorable and I'm totally in love with everything about this. BUT, imagine that in 2 years you find your soul mate and have been taking boudoir pictures each year. When you get married 2 years later you have 4 years worth of images to put in his album. Picture him reading a sweet note, "This is the culmination of years of waiting for you to come along, you were worth the wait." I'm not crying, you're crying, and he will be too.
Don't hesitate to book a session if you've decided that you are worth investing in. Even if you're still "just" a single woman. You deserve it.
This girl has me literally crying in my chair right now. This is it guys. This is why I do what I do. Seeing women transform before my eyes and see themselves as the beautiful creatures they are, it's priceless. You're worth it. I promise.
Ever since I was in middle school, I was picked on because I had gained some weight from quitting gymnastics. I struggled with weight gain and weight loss all throughout high school and I even fought with bulimia for a small time. I felt like even though I was told my face was pretty, the rest of me really didn't follow through.
I tried to commit suicide my senior year of high school partly because of what I was going through with being bullied and fighting with depression. Losing the weight I had gained from the surgery was tough in and of itself. I have been even more self conscious because of the enormous scar on my stomach.
Even with things that had happened in my marriage, I felt like I wasn't enough. I wasn't pretty. I wasn't skinny. I wasn't as smart or energetic as he wanted. Nothing I did was right. I felt worthless and useless.
Throughout those years I had thought about getting my pictures done but I was always nervous or scared because I wasn't skinny and because I didn't feel beautiful. But that all changed after I took the plunge this past week.
Yes, I was still nervous as ever when I showed up at her studio. Yes, I was still self conscious about how I looked and how I viewed myself. But then I looked myself in the mirror after having my hair and makeup done and I felt like I was a model. I never knew I could be that beautiful, even if it was just me who saw it. I already felt like a different person.
From there, things only got better! During the shoot, Katie made me feel so sexy and photogenic. She made me feel so comfortable in my own skin. The excitement built every time she took a picture. I could feel myself gaining confidence. I felt like a whole different person.
When I saw my photos for the first time, I cried. I never knew that I could be that beautiful or sexy. That feeling is something that I have decided that I need to keep. So naturally, I will be going back to Katie again.
My favorite part of the session was Katie helping encourage me. She let me know that I was doing great and that I looked marvelous! She was nothing short of wonderful.
So if you are thinking of getting your pictures done, be ready to view yourself differently. You may feel nervous at first but Katie takes great care of her clients and she does such a wonderful job. You will not be disappointed!
Sometimes people come into your life and you just know that it's meant to be. I often spend weeks prior to sessions talking with clients, reassuring them that it's going to be awesome, discussing outfit choices and how they want their session to feel. My experience with Katie Larrington was wonderful from start to finish. I had anticipated my body looking a lot different by the time my boudoir session came around, but even though I was feeling weary, Katie had plans to make me feel comfortable, beautiful and sexy the entire time.
Seriously ladies, trust her! She knows exactly what to do to make you feel incredible, and the end result is for sure going to make your partner go crazy! Katie did more than give me beautiful photos, she gave me confidence I had been missing for years. xoxo

It has been a crazy year here at Katie Larrington Boudoir Photography! I turned 30 - Yikes! - added not one, but TWO new rooms to the studio, have grown in so many ways and we have been making some significant changes to the way we want to run the studio beginning in 2018.
Our first super exciting announcement is that we will be separating our sessions into two different types! We will of course have our original, light and airy boudoir sessions. These will be the ones you are used to, in our white rooms with gold accents, great for bridal sessions, and full of light, sexy and sweet props and sets. Or you may choose from our brand new darker boudoir sessions. "Boudoir in the Shadows" sessions will take place in our amazing new purple room and will focus on the sultry, moody boudoir that I have a new-found fondness of. Click here to pick your style.
Next, we will be switching up the way we deliver our images. When you set up your session, we will also set up a viewing session to take place around 2 weeks after your session date. You will get to come back to the studio, bring some girlfriends, have some wine, and pick your favorite images with us to help you choose which products suit you and your needs best.
Lastly, we are switching up our pricing to reflect all of these awesome new offerings! If you want to get in on the 2017 pricing structure, be sure to book your session before December 31st to ensure that you still get those rates! I can't wait to show you all the awesome changes. Stepping out of my comfort zone is always REALLY hard for me. Shooting something in a style that I'm not used to or in a new place is challenging, exciting, and it keeps creativity flowing. I've never been a big fan of Halloween in general and especially not the really gore filled photography that goes along with it and when I was asked to shoot a Halloween session, I was hesitant to go.
But I pushed past the doubts I had and was determined to make it the best that I could and boy did it ever change my mind! It wasn't full of people drinking wine glasses of fake blood with eyeball ice cubes, there weren't terrible orange and black lights, it was not at all what I had dreaded and was more amazing than I could have hoped for.
The makeup was awesome and Alexis was SO into it, getting into crazy poses and with wide eyes, she was amazing to work with. There's nothing better than a client that is all in and up for whatever crazy thing I ask. I'm ready for the next one already!
